Activities for families in Yangshuo. Fun for Kids.

Of all destinations in China Yangshuo might be the most suitable destination for families with kids due to its laid-back and rustic character, mainly outdoor life and stunning scenery, and plenty of services oriented to the growing number of visiting families. There are various ways to explore the countryside and among the most favorite activities for families in Yangshuo are hiking, cycling, floating on a raft, boat or local village tours with a private car and driver.

The countryside in and around Yangshuo easily allows for families to cycle around without having to worry too much for the safety of your children. A selection of family hotels in Yangshuo, particularly when located in the countryside, offer a wide array of bicycles and mountain bikes that fit all ages and sizes. Most bikes can fit a baby seat for if your children would be too young to cycle their own bike and tandems are a safe and fun available option as well! For your accommodation a great family hotel in Yangshuo with all the above facilities for kids, a resort swimming pool and ample garden space for children to run around, check out the The Bamboo Leaf located in one of Yangshuo‘s most scenic little villages near the li-river with a convenient free shuttle service to and from the nearby center.

Another great way to come around is to explore the river scenery on a small bamboo or motorised raft. Rafts on the Yulong river are steered in a very traditional way by a gondolier where little children can enjoy some great water fun spraying each other wet using one of the many water guns provided by the locals. Rafts on the most impressive mighty Li-river are motorised to handle the stronger current of the Li-river and swimming for kids there is only advised when the water level is low and the current is mild.

Starting from March 2013 the Li-river cruise boats also take passengers back from Yangshuo in the direction of Guilin passed XingPing up to Yangdi that covers the most scenic stretch of the Li-river including the scenery immortalized on the national 20Y note.

    Hi there,

My friend Ashleigh and I are very interested in the taster session. Where are these classes held and for how much?

    Thank you for your help,

    • Yangshuo Insider says:

      Hi Erin,

The best calligraphy teacher we know, a very gentle and charming man who – quite surprisingly – speaks English too, has a workshop in Fuli, the somewhat artistic town of the area famous for its old architectural buildings and landscape painters. You could visit him in his workshop or he could come to your hotel to teach you there as well. Classes are 70Y/hr pp and he will supply everything you need for the class. He can come at anytime however it is recommended to book from beforehand to ensure he is available so just let us know what time you like and we will confirm the class between you. We could also arrange a taxi to take you there for 30Y one-way or you could take the local bus for about 7Ypp.
